Behavior changes when needs are met.
So... what are my dog's "needs"?
Needs, from Brainy Dog's perspective, are not just about survival.
Needs are about balancing our dogs (and our own) internal life values.
If a life value is lacking, it can show up as unwanted behaviors in our dog.
Pretty much the same idea with humans. As an example, let's say I'm barking (yelling) a lot, I may need more Peace, or Trust or Respect or Freedom.
Of the 7 values, that Brainy Dog calls "life-values", in general, I could use more Trust, so that would be the first area I'd work on to change my own behavior of yelling.
You know, your dog's personality, as an individual, better than anyone.
Think from your heart.
Pick one value that in general, your dog would like more of. Just choose one for now.

Your dog's behavior of
may be caused by something else, still, first, balancing, overall life values, from Brainy Dog's perspective is a good place to start.
We will definitely look at all possible causes including those such as medical issues, pain, trauma and basic needs. These are some of the needs, Brainy Dog categorizes under the value of Respect.
Thinking in values, instead of thinking about how to stop a behavior, helps our brains transition from what we want our dog to stop doing, to what we want our dog to start doing, based on what our dog needs.
I believe thinking in values, initiates the creativity needed in our mind to step away from the idea of controlling our dog, to the idea of supporting our dog as a conscious being.
We've all said it. "Dogs are smarter than we think".
Thinking in values is one way to process their level of intelligence.
Does that make sense?
