Be a Brainy Human
Have everything your dog will need before he
comes home.
Provide
24 hr. water & shelter.
Exercise
with your dog. Run walk, hike, fetch or agility.
Do not over or under feed.
Socialize your dog to animals,
kids, sounds, sights and bikes.
Never wait to take dog to your veterinarian. Sooner
the better.
Keep vaccinations current.

activities that keep your dog’s mind and body fit.
Don’t
chain your dog up.
Feed
high quality food.
Visit
a groomer regularly. If you move to another house, so
will your dog. Plan ahead.Don’t leave pets in cars. The
sun can bake them to death.Never hit or bite your dog. Pick up all of your dog’s poop
(poop can be an indicator of good or
bad health, know what it looks like every day) and never rub his nose in
it for making a mistake in the house.Spend time with your dog. Schedule it. If you can’t, be responsible and fair. Wait to
bring a dog into your family.Train
your dog. You teach your kids, right? You don't allow your kids to
jump on the counter or to be rude in public. Dogs really are part of
the family. Treat them like it.
Socialize
Socialization is much more than playing nice with dogs. It’s being comfortable with noises, people, kids, animals, cars,
bikes, and babies, in any place or situation. Your dog has a greater chance of developing behavior
problems if you don’t socialize early. Early socialization and bonding period is 6 to 16 weeks
old. Even if your dogs are past that age, start
socializing today. Puppies learn to,
not bite hard, from their dog-mom and siblings.
Leave puppies with their
dog family for the first 8 weeks. Visit them during this
time if possible, then bring them home to their new loving human family.
