Does my dog need help?
Many dogs are euthanized in the prime
of their lives because our
dogs couldn't tell us how
frustrated they were.
They try and try in their own way, but
communicating to
another species, humans, is not easy.
Lets
take the pressure off of our dogs and learn to
hear their calls for
help.
Be observant and proactive.
Skip the denial phase.
Don't ignore the signs.
Have you seen any of the behaviors
below
in your dog?
Hair stands up on dog's back. It's called hackles.
Whites of your dog's eyes are more visible in certain situations. Stress.
Dog eliminates in the house. Please do not rub your dogs nose in it.
Guards toys, food, treats or bed.
Dog growls if he/she is moved or wakened.
Failed a training class.
Nips, barks or jumps on visitors.
Chases squirrels cats chickens.
Fence fights or lunges at dogs.
Nipped, bitten, growled, lunged or barked at a child - even once!
Chases cars, bikes, skate boards.
Is his/her only exercise is inside yard?
If dog startles from anything.
Cowers or shy when approached.
If dog has killed an animal.
Is your do protective of yard, car or kids.
Has dog has nipped or bitten a human.
Dogs go nuts at delivery people.
Bolts out doors, won't come.
Obsessive with toys or activities.
Does not pay attention to you.if she won't let you out of her sight.
Digs, chews, eats weird stuff or eats poop.
Fights, barks, or whines at dogs.
