The
spooky holiday just around the corner is a great time for monster
socialization. Dog bite rates go up during Halloween. A lot of kids get
bit because a dog mistakes a child for a monster in
the yard. Intakes at shelters increase because some dogs run when they
see un-usually dressed people. They can lose their way home and end up
(hopefully) with animal control who will bring them to a safe place.
Tips:
DONT
SCARE YOUR DOG.
Introduce
your pups to your monster costume. Just lay it in the living room and move it
around while you dog is watching over the month of October. Put it in a
place where the dog can see it but, IS NOT reacting to it.
Give
your dog treats for calm behavior around scary things.
Keep
your dog in a back room during monster visits. Give your dogs a nice chew toy
to keep them occupied.
Its
never too late to socialize your dog. October special is one week of
socialization camp for 215.00 (regular price 245.00). Camp starts each
Sunday in October.
